The 2025/26 season has been an encouraging one for Everton. The Toffees are challenging for a European spot in the Premier League.

Despite their positive campaign, the men from Merseyside are already looking to next season, as they look to renew interest in Leicester City’s highly-rated winger Abdul Fatawu.

Leicester are in big trouble at the bottom of the Championship, currently ensconced in the relegation zone after a six-point deduction earlier this season.

Despite his team’s struggles, the 22-year-old winger has impressed, scoring nine goals and producing seven assists in 41 appearances in the English second-tier.

The youngster was heavily linked with a switch away from the Midlands club last summer after City suffered relegation from the Premier League. However, a move never materialised.

Another relegation to England’s third tier would lead to an inevitable mass exodus from the club, with Fatawu likely to be one of the first players to leave. Reports suggest that Leicester are ready to part with the Ghanaian for a fee of around £20m this summer.

Everton is not the only Premier League club showing interest in the winger, though, as Sunderland are also reportedly eying up a move for the Ghana international.

Fatawu’s arrival could spell trouble for current Everton wingers

The addition of Fatawu this summer would raise doubts over the future of two other highly-rated young wingers already at Everton. Tyler Dibling joined Everton from Southampton last summer as one of English football’s brightest young players. However, he has struggled for first-team football on Merseyside.

Another highly-rated youngster whose Everton future could be thrown into turmoil is on-loan Chelsea winger Tyrique George, who joined the club in January with a view to a £25m permanent transfer if he impressed.

Like Dibling, he hasn’t had much of a chance to impress in the first team, although he has enjoyed some bright spells in his limited opportunities, especially as a substitute.

Both players will need to do more to impress boss David Moyes before the end of the season to ensure they have a future with Everton. If Fatawu does arrive in the summer, it seems unlikely that both youngsters will be in the Toffees squad next season.
