Extraordinary Talent: Mkhitaryan’s place already under serious threat at Manchester United

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a wonderful talent and TFF were among the first to herald Manchester United’s Armenian signing. He should prove to be a great addition for the squad.

But he has been increasingly quiet in his three appearances for Manchester United so far and The Bundesliga Player of The Year is clearly going to take time to assimilate.

But watching the cameo of Marcus Rashford on Saturday night begged the question – can Jose possibly leave this guy out of the side any longer?

Rashford is a centre forward by trade and played there under Louis van Gaal for Manchester United last season. But the most likely place that he can force his way into the team right now is on the right wing. And he proved against Galatasaray in Sweden on Saturday that he can be even more devastating in that position.

He has the pace, trickery and dribbling ability to be a total nightmare for fullbacks. He has one thing on his mind when he gets the ball – get to goal in the shortest route possible.

Anthony Martial was beautiful to watch again and he will be a nailed on starter on the left of a 4-2-3-1 behind the striker. Zlatan will start up top when fit and fresh and captain Wayne Rooney will play number 10.

But, after some quiet introductory games for United, Mkhitaryan will perhaps have to give way to Rashford, at least to begin with, as the 18-year-old is on fire.

Manchester United look to have their cutting edge back and Marcus Rashford is providing a compelling case for inclusion in the team on the right flank.
