Fresh Bid by Manchester United

Manchester United have made a fresh bid for Paul Pogba in a move which they hope will seal the deal for one of the most protracted transfer stories of the summer.

They say:

United have lodged a fresh offer of around €110m with €10m in add-ons (equivalent to £100m in total) and Juventus are also insisting on a future payment of around €5m if Pogba extends his contract with José Mourinho’s side.

The deal is likely to include a further £5m in bonus payments if Manchester United extend the contract of the 23-year-old Frenchman beyond the initial deal – which is expected to be for the term of five years.

Manchester United fans had been panicked by the comments of Zinedine Zidane on Wednesday which seemed to throw the transfer into doubt.

But The Guardian reports that Manchester United are now confident of completing the deal in the next 2 days and the player is waiting for the green light to undergo a medical.

To further stoke the flames, Pogba released an image on his instagram account – a largely black and white image which highlighted a red cap and trainers. This was seen by many as a sign that the player has made his decision and that he will turn out for Manchester United next season.

The only remaining negotiations seem to be for the agent fees which Mino Raiola is asking for – believed to be in the stratospheric region of £20m. It wasn’t too long ago when you could get a really top player for that amount. Now it seemingly only gets you a well-connected agent.

It’s a massive move for United and one which will completely change the complexion of their summer transfer business and team. Despite the money spent by other clubs this summer Manchester United are now TFF’s favourites for the title.

If Pogba comes in the attention will then switch to who leaves the club this summer.
