Have Real Madrid lodged their biggest bid yet?

Real Madrid haven’t been at their most audacious over the last few years in terms of spending and the transfer ban has had something to do with that.

But they could well go back into the market in a big way as latest reports this week suggest that they have launched a bid for a player which could eventually eclipse anything they have ever spent before.

The name on everybody’s lips this summer is that of Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe as the teenager has been absolute sensation the French champions this season scoring 26 goals in 44 appearances in an amazing breakthrough campaign.

Premier League clubs have supposedly been interested in the player but Rea Madrid may wade into the argument as respected British media outlet, The Daily Telegraph, reports:

Monaco have turned down a world-record fee of around €120 million euros (£103m) from Real Madrid for 18-year-old striker Kylian Mbappe, Telegraph Sport understands.

This is a player of incredible quality. He has the fearlessness of youth but also a maturity about his game. He’s got a killer instinct in front of goal and already looks like a consummate and experienced finisher.

Mbappe has been likened to Thierry Henry by more than one observer and TFF thinks he has also got a little bit of Brazilian Ronaldo about his game. He loves to run at defenders and is a really natural dribbler but is also ruthless in front of goal.

This one could be the big transfer saga of the summer and Real Madrid usually get their way when they really want a player.

Real Madrid fans – is he good enough to get into the first team straight away?
