Is it finally time for Arsenal to sign their man?

Maracaná, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

Arsenal’s reported pursuit of Julian Draxler seems to be one of the longest running sagas in football history. He’s ostensibly been linked to the Gunners for time immemorial but still a move hasn’t materialised.

Reports in British media outlet, The Daily Mail, today suggest that things could yet change:

Does this change the game over Draxler?

Arsenal have long been linked with German enigma Julian Draxler, but one of the key men in any such transfer has departed Wolfsburg.

That man is sporting director Klaus Allofs who was let go on Monday after a 5-0 battering at the hands of big boys Bayern Munich.

It’s a tenuous link but we do believe that Draxler would be ready to move on to an elite club should the right offer come in.

With the future of Arsenal’s star striker Alexis Sanchez up in the air Arsene Wenger could do a lot worse than to sign this brilliant Germany international.

Sanchez still has 18 months left on his contract but there are sure to be other suitors for his signature. And even if he does re-sign for Arsenal, as many expect, Draxler is the sort of adaptable forward who can play anywhere across the front line.

The 23-year-old has already played 27 times for Germany and scored three goals. He was part of the world Cup winning squad into 2014 in Brazil.

And he had an excellent season for Wolfsburg last year with nine goals in 34 games.

Due to his age and profile this would not be a cheap signing for Arsenal. But the German wizard almost guarantees to improve any first XI and he is only going to get better over the next few years. TFF thinks he would be a fantastic signing. Let’s have a look at some of his better moments. Arsenal fans: the perfect addition?
