Jorge Mendes client list: Who will Manchester United sign through the super agent?

Ronnie would surely be welcomed back to United

There are many reasons why Manchester United have got the right man in Jose Mourinho. He’s a leader, a football genius and, despite the recent headlines, a great unifier of squads. But the fact that his agent, Jorge Mendes, counts some of the top players in the world as his clients can only help Manchester United going forward.

David de Gea is one of them and this could smooth the way for the brilliant stopper to stay for another year at least, to see how the new regime develops. Let’s not understate how big a draw Jose is for the players.

He is irrefutably one of the top three managers in the world and players know they will win trophies and improve under the Portuguese.

But who else could Manchester United sign from the stellar list of 80 players? Hopefully not Anderson or Bebe!

James Rodriguez

At 24 he has stalled of late but his first year at Real Madrid was extraordinary. Rodriguez has the talent to light up any team and Jose may feel that he can be the perfect number 10 for United if Rooney continues in the deeper role that he looks so suited to.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Had a famously terce relationship with Mourinho at Real Madrid but they could surely rewrite the history books if they were reunited. A front line of Martial, Rashford and Ronnie would be truly frightening.

Thiago Silva

Along with Ezequiel Garay, Silva represents the sort of top veteran who, at 31, would surely solidify a questionable centre of defence.

Yacine Brahimi

Another in the Jorge Mendes stable and a flying winger who could add pace and penetration to Manchester United’s attack.

William Carvalho

Had long been mooted as a possible Premier League arrival. He has wonderful feet and passing range for a big guy and looks tailor made for Manchester United and The Premier League.

Andre Gomes, Bernardo Silva, Thiago Neves.

Three young Portugal stars with great technique. Gomes has already been linked to Manchester United this week.
