Jose Mourinho ‘won’t be sacked’ says Carlo Ancelotti as Italian denies claims that he will be returning to Chelsea

Ancelotti thinks Mourinho will stay at Chelsea

Carlo Ancelotti was an excellent manager for Chelsea, overseeing a league and cup double in his first season in charge. And many felt that he was sacked unfairly by the board in 2011.

But he appears undiminished by his trials at Stamford Bridge and seems keen to come back to England, according to his latest comments in The Daily Mail:

“I would like to come back to work in England,’ he said. “I love the football here, I still have a house in London, and I would like to be with a team that is competitive in England and in Europe.

But he has assuaged the fears of many pro-Mourinho Chelsea fans by saying that he thinks that The Special One’s job is safe:

“I would have no problem with Chelsea,”

“But José won’t be sacked. They already choose to keep him, and I think they made a good choice.”

Ancelotti would be a fine coach for Chelsea and has been linked with a return to the hot seat since Chelsea began their recent dip, but we tend to agree with Carlo’s implication that it was a good choice to keep the Portuguese.

Because, despite Mourinho’s contentious conduct at times this season, Chelsea would struggle to find a manager quite this good again.

Chelsea did of course win The Champions League, five years after Mourinho left the club in 2007. But, notwithstanding this season, Mourinho’s presence at Chelsea tends to add to the club’s overall fear factor. And, in general, he is peerless in his ability to grind out results.

Ancelotti also mentioned that he wasn’t approached about the Liverpool vacancy which was recently filled by Jurgen Klopp:

“I think Liverpool are a good team … But I did not speak with them. If I spoke with them I can say ‘yes’, but no, I did not.”

The Italian has been out of work since he was sacked by Real Madrid earlier this year. His dismissal by the Spanish giants was another arguably reckless decision.

But based on his incredible CV it won’t be too long before he has another top job in the game.
