Liverpool close to agreeing fee for forward

Liverpool are seemingly closing in on a major piece of transfer business – their first of the summer – as a deal for Mohamed Salah of Roma looks imminent.

The 25-year-old winger had a sensational season in Italy last term and after haggling over a fee for a few weeks it looks as if £35m may do the trick. The report states that Roma are holding out to 39m GBP but that a deal could be agreed with add-ons.

British media outlet, The Daily Mail, reports:

Liverpool close to agreeing £35m fee with Roma to sign Mohamed Salah

Salah was absolutely brilliant for Roma last season. After his career stalled at Chelsea he went on loan to Italy and made a permanent move to Rome a year ago. He scored 19 goals last season for the Series A outfit and looks as if he’s getting better by the month.

The winger played for Chelsea between 2014 in 2016. He went on loan to Fiorentina for a season before joining Roma, also on loan. He scored 14 in 34 games while on loan at Roma and that encouraged them to make the move permanent. And he’s gone from strength to strength since.

It’s difficult to know exactly where Liverpool will play Salah. Sadio Mane is obviously a nailed on starter on the right-hand side and Philippe Coutinho could play in the whole at number 10 next season which means that Salah could play on the left. Alternatively Mane can play through the middle with Salah on the right.
