Liverpool could make 11th hour move for prolific forward – report

Jamie Vardy - What is in this guy's cereal? And can we have some please?

It has been assumed for some time that if Jamie Vardy leaves Leicester this summer it will be for Arsenal, who triggered the release clause of the England international last week.

But British tabloid The Daily Star reckons that Liverpool could make a move for the 29-year-old. They report:

Liverpool to decide on whether to launch Jamie Vardy bid during Euro 2016

Daily Star can reveal that Liverpool have been tracking Vardy, 29, for TWO seasons.

The Premier League’s top soccer last season has been such a revelation that there is talk of a Hollywood film being made about him. His rise to prominence, from Fleetwood Town to Premier League champion in a few short years is the stuff of fairytales.

But Liverpool fans will be more interested in what he can offer moving forward. And, as well as being a superb marksmen with 24 goals in 38 games last season, he has devastating pace for a player touching 30. But he has a wiry frame and doesn’t seem to carry an ounce of fat on his entire body.

Liverpool have tended to buy multi-tasking forwards over the last few years and while Vardy has the pace to play wide, he does seem far more suited to the number 9 role. Perhaps he could play in front of Roberto Firmino with Sturridge and Coutinho either side in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 next season.

There is nothing concrete at all on this move yet and a bid by Liverpool could draw differing reactions from the fans, but TFF believes that he would be a good addition to any squad in The Premier League.

Here are some of Jamie Vardy’s better moments for Leicester.
