Liverpool: Coutinho replacement coming in January?

The news isn’t as bad as some suspected it might be but the fact that Philippe Countinho will be out until the new year will still leave many Liverpool fans reeling.

Just when everything seemed to be going so beautifully the main man, in a team of stars, has been crocked with ankle ligament damage and will likely miss the rest of this calendar year.

And The Daily Mail reckons that this news, twinned with the long-term absence of Danny Ings and the African Nations obligations for Sadio Mane will send Jurgen Klopp back into the market this winter for creative reinforcements.

They report:

Liverpool to ramp up attempts to sign Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Christian Pulisic after Phillippe Coutinho ruled out for six weeks

Liverpool are ready to step up their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund prodigy Christian Pulisic in the wake of injury to Philippe Coutinho.

The report states that the player is exactly the sort of flexible talent that Jurgen Klopp likes – a creator who can play on either wing or through the middle.

Just 18 years of age, the United States international has already made 14 appearances and scored 2 goals in what is looking ever more like a genuine breakthrough campaign for the youngster.

But he won’t come cheap. Liverpool will reportedly need to stump up at very least £25m if they want to sign a man who is already playing for one of the best teams in Europe – a team who is also playing Champions League football this season.

Let’s see the boy doing what he does best.

Liverpool fans: could you imagine Pulisic getting into the first team straight away or would the kitty be better spent on a more experienced player who can help with the title tilt?
