Liverpool face competition for midfielder – report

Liverpool are said to be long-term admirers of the brilliant Borussia Monchengladbach star Mahmoud Dahoud. But latest reports suggest that Barcelona may also be keen to bring him to Spain.

British media outlet, The Daily Star, reports:

LIVERPOOL may need to fight off Barcelona if they are to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Mahmoud Dahoud.

The 21-year-old has blossomed way ahead of schedule and looks to have a superb future in the game. He has played 6 times for the Germany U21s and is surely being primed for a position in the seniors before too long.

His breakthrough campaign for Borussia Monchengladbach came last season when he played 41 games and scored five goals in a stellar season for the club.

This season he has played every time he has been fit and made 18 appearances scoring the solitary goal.

Overall he has only played 62 times in his senior career and scored 6 goals. But the quality is obvious. This is a player who reads the game beautifully and just seems to float around the pitch effortlessly.

He knows where the goal his but his main value is as a creator with his clever passing and movement between the opposition lines.

Liverpool have a good compliment of creative midfielders with the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana. But perhaps, long-term, Dahoud can offer something a little different and really grab the spotlight in the centre of the midfield as the heartbeat of the Liverpool side.

Liverpool fans: would he get into the starting line up right now?
