Liverpool in contact with reps to sign £28million attacker

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

If reports in the media are anything to go by then Liverpool are interested in German international and Hoffenheim attacking midfielder Kerem Demirbay.

The Reds have been linked with the 25-year-old in the past and as per Turkish Football, the Merseysiders are still in contact with the player’s representatives.

Demirbay’s playing position and form:

The Turkish born player was part of the German team that won the Confederations Cup last year. He can play anywhere in the midfield but naturally, he is a central attacking midfielder.

Demirbay, who has a release clause of £28million (The Express), had an injury hit campaign last term. He missed more than 10 league games due to hamstring and ankle concerns. Overall, in 27 appearances, he scored 2 goals and provided 6 assists.

As far as this season is concerned, he missed the opening five league games and featured in the last two contests vs Leipzig and Frankfurt.

Scenario at Anfield:

Liverpool sold star playmaker Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in the January transfer window and they have not replaced the Brazilian as yet.

The Reds tried to lure Nabil Fekir in the summer but the Frenchman eventually stayed with Lyon. Klopp does need someone who can operate in the midfield and the attack like Coutinho did and Demirbay does not seem good enough to replace the little magician.
