Liverpool keen on another flying 24-year-old in January – report

Liverpool already have two of the best 24-year-old flyers in the business in the shape of Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho.

But the latest Christmas speculation suggests that they may be in the market for yet another one as they continue to bolster their squad ahead of what they hope will be a serious title surge.

The report in The Mirror states that having missed out on Julian Draxler, who is likely to go to PSG, Liverpool will instead turn their attention to another impressive young winger.

The Mirror states:

Liverpool step up Quincy Promes interest after missing out on Paris Saint-Germain bound Julian Draxler

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed he’s in the market for a wide player who can operate along the front line

The relatively unknown Dutch international has been at Spartak Moscow since 2014. Over the last three seasons at the club level he has been absolutely on fire with 37 goals in just 78 appearances from the wide areas.

He has also made his mark for the national team with 14 caps since his debut in 2014 and two goals for good measure.

He looks like a really interesting prospect and players that ply their trade in Russia tend to do pretty well in terms of progressing to the Premier League.

Quite where or whether Promes would fit into the first XI is the subject of debate. But the idea of him displacing the likes of Coutinho, Firmino or Mane at this point are surely unlikely.

Liverpool fans – would this be the sort of signing to boost the squad for the title challenge or should you be concentrating more on signing solid defenders?
