Report – Liverpool keen on signing £30million in-form player

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool splashed the cash to sign Xherdan Shaqiri to improve their attack in the summer transfer window. If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Reds are now looking to strengthen their strike-force.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are keen on signing Polish international and Genoa center forward Krzysztof Piatek, who has been in sensational form this season.

The British outlet have mentioned that the likes of Tottenham, Barcelona and Manchester City are also interested in luring the 23-year-old goalscorer.

Stats:

Last season, in 36 league outings for the Serie A club, Piatek scored 21 goals and provided 4 assists. In the current campaign, he has found the net in every game that he has featured in.

In 7 league fixtures, he has already scored 9 times. Moreover , in the third round contest of the Coppa Italian, he scored 4 goals against Lecce.

Situation at Liverpool:

Firmino has been the main center forward under Jurgen Klopp and the Brazilian scored 27 goals in all competitions for the Reds last season.

This season, he has been a little out of form lately but Klopp does have a quality cover in the form of a fit Sturridge, who has so far netted 4 goals in 2 starts for the Merseysiders this season. In such a situation, Liverpool do not really need to strengthen their strike-force at the moment.

Piatek’s contract and market value:

The former Cracovia Krakow striker’s current contract with Genoa will expire in 2022 and as per talkSPORT, he is valued at £30million.
