Liverpool: Klavan latest and Klopp now heads queue for another dazzling midfielder – report

Latest reports suggest that Liverpool are close to completing their next major transfer of the summer with central defender Ragnar Klavan set to join the club.

The highly respected British media outlet, The BBC, reports:

Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Augsburg central defender Ragnar Klavan for a fee of £4.2m.

The 30-year-old Estonia captain has played 108 times for his country and scored 3 goals. He’s been at Bundesliga club Augsburg since 2012 where he has been something of a stalwart and averaged 35 games a season.

In other news The Telegraph reports that Liverpool are now favourites to sign the excellent Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

Liverpool have been linked with wide men all summer and, despite Newcastle’s relegation last term, Wijnaldum was one of the success stories of The Premier League season.

The Telegraph states:

Wijnaldum has played 30 times for The Netherlands since his debut in 2011, scoring 6 times. At club level he played 40 times for Newcastle and scored 11 goals from midfield.
