Liverpool linked with unexpected transfer move for 24-year-old

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Andros Townsend as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his options for the coming campaign, according to a British tabloid.

The Sun claims:

Liverpool planning Andros Townsend transfer swoop as Newcastle face battle to keep winger

The 24-year-old has always been highly regarded by England manager Roy Hodgson, as one of his few conventional wingers, and the forward just missed the cut on the final 23 man squad which travelled to EURO 2016.

Add to that his excellent form towards the end of the season, after his move to Newcastle, and there is lots to like about the player.

But he has yet to shake off the reputation of a player who blows hot and cold without any real control over his form. To this end, he may be considered something of an unusual move for a Liverpool team which has such a top quality forward line already with the likes of Coutinho, Sturridge, Origi and Firmino.

Tottenham seemed happy to offload him at the first opportunity and his omission from the final England party would suggest that his career is at a crossroads.

Andros Townsend had no less than 9 loan moves during his 7 years at Tottenham but it must be said that he was quite unlucky with injuries at crucial times.

He played 93 times and scored 11 goals for Tottenham before his move to Newcastle in January where he hit an impressive 4 goals in just 13 games from his position on the flank.

But we do feel that Liverpool fans would be divided about the potential acquisition. So what do you Liverpool supporters think? Would he be a tasty addition to the squad or a step backwards in terms of quality?
