Liverpool are said to be one of the clubs interested in the powerful England and Southampton eft back Ryan Bertrand.
According to a report in the British media Bertrand is being monitored by the Anfield giants.
The Daily Mirror reports:
Liverpool and Chelsea eye Ryan Bertrand transfer as he tells Southampton team-mates he is ready to leave.
Chelsea and Liverpool are both watching developments on England left-back Bertrand, who is ready to leave St Mary’s.
Alberto Moreno is nice to watch going forward and has a decent final ball. But too often he is found wanting with the bread and butter of defending and has made some high profile mistakes over the span of his Liverpool career.
This has forced a reshuffle and Jurgen Klopp has regularly played the adaptable midfielder James Milner at left-back this season.
But Bertrand would be a much better specialist option in there. The 27-year-oldSouthwark born wide man is strong, quick and powerful and does the defensive part without any fuss. But he is also superb going forward and has been one of the highlights of Southampton’s attacking play over the last few years.
He went on loan there from Chelsea in 2014 before making the switch permanent a year later. He’s been a really consistent performer at St.Mary’s over the last three years with 100 appearances and five goals.
He’s also on the cusp of the national squad having played a creditable 12 times for England since his debut in 2012.
TFF believes that Bertrand would be a hit at Liverpool. A steady player like Milner but with much ore attacking prowess.
Liverpool fans: is he good enough to improve the first team?
