Liverpool on the brink of signing Moreno?

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers isn’t messing about this summer. With Rickie Lambert and Emre Can seemingly in the bag for Liverpool, they are now homing in on another major target. This time it’s Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno.

The Daily Mail reports Monday afternoon that the player is flying in to Liverpool to potentially conclude negotiations with the club.

Liverpool expect to take a significant step forward on Monday in their pursuit of Alberto Moreno after agreeing a fee with Sevilla for £16.2million, which will rise on performances.

The left back is due to fly to England on Monday and travel to Merseyside with his father and his agent Javier Moya.

Liverpool have been trying to do this one for a while now. With Jose Enrique out long term Jon Flanagan had a sensational season at left-back. But he may be expected to move over to the right if Moreno does arrive at the club this summer. Glen Johnson is looking a bit leggy these days and few Liverpool fans will want to see the development of Flanagan postponed.

But the 21 year old Moreno, who has already played 3 times for the Spain national side, is another youngster of inordinate quality and potential. With his whole career ahead of him, he already has great composure and a physique which will easily cope with the demands of The Premier League – although he can still expect a baptism of fire when he realises how quick the game in England is.
