Liverpool reportedly scout Griezmann and Martinez

It seems that many people think Liverpool need a far better defence if they are going to win the title next season.

But the brilliant thing about Brendan Rodgers is that, if anything, he seems to want to attack more than defend better.

So we fully expect a raft of speculation linking the club with forwards this summer as well as a couple of additions at the back.

Real Sociedad’s exciting winger Antoine Greizmann has been linked with Liverpool again of late.
Recent reports suggest that Liverpool sent scouts to see the player in action this week. The Daily Mail says:

Liverpool scouts watched Antoine Griezmann in Real Sociedad’s 1-1 draw with Granada on Monday night.

The French winger has been in fine form this season, and has been monitored by other Premier League sides.

Interestingly, the report also suggests that Liverpool also went to see defender Inigo Martinez.

The game also gave Liverpool staff the chance to check on his Sociedad teammate centre-back Inigo Martinez while Tiago Ilori, on loan from Liverpool, was playing for Granada.

We have been watching this lad for some time and think that he’s an absolute star in the making. A ball playing defender who does his defensive duties well but is superb at distributing the ball out of defence and starting attacks.

He’s strong, mobile, quick and technically brilliant. Pace is of course vital commodity in the modern Premier League and Martinez has loads of it. This makes him an even more tantalising prospect.
