Report: ‘Offers from Liverpool’ – Powerful forward suggests Reds wanted him

Stoke’s brilliant winger Xherdan Shaqiri has suggested that Liverpool were keen to sign him before he moved to The Potters in 2014.

“I wanted to leave in summer by all means and had offers from Liverpool and Atletico,” Shaqiri told Spox. “Brendan Rodgers called me several times before the World Cup. But Bayern forbid me to leave.”

TFF has always been a big fan of the Swiss international and thinks he could do a job for Liverpool.

He’s played 59 times and scored 18 goals for his country and been a good signing for Stoke when fit with 6 goals in 48 games for the club.

In other news reports over the last 24 hours have suggested that Liverpool are keen to sign a brilliant young Brazilian player.

British media outlet, The Sun, went with this line:

Reds in hunt for teenage Brazilian star Thiago Maia

The 19-year-old Santos midfielder broke through into his club side in 2014 and has played some 90 games including 50 in 2016 alone.

So he’s cemented his place in his club side already and has already played 6 times for the Brazil U23 side.

He’s quick, clever, athletic and as you would imagine, superb from a technical point of view.

Liverpool are fairly well equipped in midfield with Henderson and Can coming into their prime. But another man for the engine room would give them real depth in that area of the squad for the rigours of league and regular Champions League football.

Liverpool fans: do you need another defensive midfielder as a priority?
