Liverpool vs Chelsea – Injury update and prediction

It’s the game of the weekend and a fascinating prospect. Chelsea are on fire in the league and nearly beat both City and United of Manchester on their travels of late – both opponents survived through late equalisers.

So Chelsea certainly won’t fear an away game against a side that is seriously struggling to cope with the loss of Luis Suarez.

The new signings haven’t sparked and Brendan Rodgers’s side have sorely missed the injured Daniel Sturridge up top. In his absence, Mario Balotelli hasn’t yet found his feet at number 9 but he will probably lead the line again this weekend, with the England man perhaps only fit for the bench.

But what a game for Liverpool to gather some momentum. Anfield is never an easy place to visit and the fans will be really up for this one – particularly as Chelsea famously ruined their title party last season with a 2-0 victory at Anfield when Liverpool looked nailed on for their first league winners’ trophy in a quarter of a century.

Liverpool have Enrique, Sakho and Flanagan sidelined but have a pretty fit squad otherwise. Chelsea too are doing really well on the injury front with only Mikel and Remy currently crocked.

Many would have Chelsea down for a win on Saturday (kick off 12:45 local time). But we feel that Liverpool will rouse themselves and take a point in a highly compelling and entertaining tie.

TFF Score Prediction: 1-1
