Liverpool have so far kept the gunpowder dry on big summer signings but they are again being linked with a move for Southampton forward Sadio Mane in the latest sports news.
Mane has been a sensation at Southampton and reportedly been courted by several top clubs.
But Liverpool’s interest seems the most persistent right now and The Sun on Sunday reports that the price tag would be very large:
Sadio Mane has £40m price tag slapped on him by Southampton as Liverpool step up their pursuit of Senegalese star
Mane is a wonderful, intelligent forward who could play in various roles for Liverpool – and this fact makes him an even more valuable player. But £40m is a huge price and would possibly represent Liverpool’s major summer signing.
Whether the has proven his worth at that price remains to be seen. If Liverpool do bring him to the club we expect that the fee would be some way lower. But this fee represents a feeling that Southampton are in no need of the money and don’t want to sell.
TFF believes that the Senegal international with 36 caps and 10 goals has had his head turned by all the speculation over the last year and would be surprised if he didn’t move on this summer.
The 24-year-old has an excellent record for The Saints with 25 goals scored from 75 games and he usually plays in a wide position for the team.
The report does state that Liverpool are keen and are ready to step up their pursuit of the 5ft 9in player who has pace, great awareness and is just as important a creator as a goal scorer.
