Man Utd agree £50.7million terms with their player

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has officially penned a new deal with the club to become one of the highest paid defenders in the Premier League.

The England international left Southampton to join the Red Devils back in 2014 and it has taken him 4 years to cement his place as the first choice left back at Old Trafford.

Under Louis van Gaal, the young defender struggled with injuries and the Dutch boss mainly preferred Rojo and Blind in the LB role. Moreover, in the first two seasons under the management of Jose Mourinho, Shaw was mainly bench warmer.

However, the 23-year-old has turned things around this season and won over the Portuguese boss. United have so far struggled in the current campaign but Shaw has been one of their better players and now, he has earned a lucrative deal to extend his stay with the club.

According to Mirror Sport, Shaw used to earn around £95,000-a-week and now Man Utd have agreed a mammoth contract that will make him earn £50.7million in the next five years, £195,000-a-week.

Praising the former Saints player, Jose Mourinho said (MUFC):

“Luke fully deserves this contract. He understood his development process, he has worked really hard at every level and he always believes in himself which is a great attribute to have.”

In your opinion, did Shaw really deserved the new deal?
