Manchester United bounced back from 2 goals down to beat Newcastle United at Old Trafford in their last league outing.

After eight PL fixtures, the Red Devils are currently in eighth position and 7 points behind joint leaders Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Old Trafford club need to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window and reports are linking them with a young Dutch playmaker in the form of Steven Bergwijn.

According to Sport, the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool want to sign the Netherlands starlet, who is celebrating his 21st birthday today. The Spanish outlet have mentioned that the British duo have closely monitored him.

Stats:

Last season, Bergwijn started 27 league games for PSV Eindhoven and directly contributed in no fewer than 19 goals (8 goals and 11 assists). In the current campaign, so far, in 8 Eredivisie outings, he has scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists.

Playing position:

The youngster is naturally a left winger but he can effectively play on the right flank as well. At PSV, he switches places on the flanks with Mexican international Hirving Lozano, who can play on either flank as well.

Contract and clause:

Bergwijn’s current contract with the Dutch giants will expire in 2022 and it has a very low release clause (Sport) of 20 million euros (£18million).
