Manchester City: £250m spend and 3 targets mooted

This story seems ready to be rehashed ad infinitum until the window opens. But it is easy to imagine that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will indeed invest heavily in the market this summer.

And the latest tabloid reports in England suggest that he will pursue at least three major targets, with some such needed defensive reinforcements and another stellar forward.

The Sun reports:

Manchester City transfer news: Pep Guardiola handed £250m transfer kitty… and has Alexis Sanchez, Kyle Walker and Virgil van Dijk on his shortlist

Even those with a passing interest in football will know all about Alexis Sanchez. He’s been the master of the Premier League for the last two years and, although he’s not exactly a masterful find by Pep, he would add even more sparkle to an attacking line which includes Aguero, Jesus, Sane, Sterling and De Bruyne.

Kyle Walker is in the best form of his career and has shaken off the inconsistency to become a fully baked full back of great pace and overall quality.

And Virgil van Dijk has been one of the finds of the last couple of years. He’s a powerhouse of a player but also has great feet for one so tall.

Manchester City look weakest in their full back areas and also need to get another centre back of composure and solidity.

With these additions it’s hard to imagine anyone touching Manchester City in the title race next season.
