Manchester City in advanced talks for forward and want two more A-list talents – report

Most Manchester City fans will have been buoyed by the news over the last 12 hours or so that the club are reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ with Borussia Dortmund over the capture of the wonderful Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – according to Sky Sports.

Sky sources understand City are in advanced talks with Dortmund over the signing

The 26-year old Gabon international (49 caps and 20 goals) scored 39 goal sin 46 games for Dortmund last season and is pretty much as close to a sure thing as they come. The thought of him partnering the likes of Aguero and De Bruyne up top, with David Silva supplying the ammo, is truly frightening.

But it doesn’t end there as the same source suggests that Manchester City’s new manager Pep Guardiola also wants two wonderful defenders to bolster a supremely expensive but sometimes shaky defensive line.

France international Aymeric Laporte, who plays for Athletic Bilbao, and Everton’s England international John Stones are also on Guardiola’s wanted list, Sky sources understand.

While it’s not inconceivable that a club the size of Manchester City will go for both, they are a similar type of ball-playing centre back and they would both perhaps bring out the best in one of City’s more physical centre backs such as Nicolas Otamendi or Eliaquim Mangala.

With three months to go before the end of the summer transfer window some of these moves will drag on but it does seem to be the case that all the new managers in The Premier League are trying to get their big signings in before EURO 2016.

Here are some of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s best moments for Dortmund. Manchester City supporters – a perfect addition?
