Manchester City close to sealing deal for double Champions League winner – report

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is said to be close to persuading Real Madrid star Isco to come to Eastlands in what would have to be seen as another transfer coup for the club.

British media outlet, The Sun, reports:

Manchester City are close to sealing a deal for the £30million midfield ace despite interest from Chelsea and Juventus.

The 24-year-old Spanish international (17 caps and two goals), who has won the Champions League twice with Real Madrid, has been in and out of the Real Madrid team over the last few years and has been lost constantly linked with a move away from El Bernabeu.

While he hasn’t managed to nail down a starting spot in a Real Madrid team which boasts the attacking talents of Rodriguez, Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo, his value is obvious.

Isco would suit the Premier League because he’s a hard running athlete with a robust frame. He can play in several positions in the midfield and attack or on either flank. He loves to dribble with the ball and can beat a man with pace and guile. TFF often likens him to a young and fearless Jack Wilshere.

Quite where Manchester City would position the Spaniard is open to debate. But with Pep Guardiola regularly adopting unconventional formations, Isco could pop up in any one of 5 or 6 berths in the side.

Manchester City have had an up and down season but are coming into the business end of the campaign strongly and TFF believes that no one will want to meet them in the Champions League.

With a few more signings in the summer their squad will be ridiculously strong.

Manchester City fans: a wise capture?
