Manchester City to rival United for Spanish superstar according to areas of the media

Wow. This one could really get under the noses of Manchester United fans everywhere.

Because Manchester City have already had a pretty decent summer in the market, winning the battle for Raheem Sterling with Manchester United also reported to be admirers of the player.

In reality Liverpool would have sold to anyone but Manchester United. But if The Red Devils also lose out on Pedro this summer they could be in real trouble with their forward line.

Reports today suggest that, with a deal for Kevin De Bruyne perhaps difficult to do, Manchester City have turned their attention to the Barcelona man.

Sky Sports reports:

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague says Manchester City have bid in excess of Pedro’s release clause of £21m and also says Chelsea are keen.

With 50 caps for Spain and 16 goals this is a player with great international experience.

And, at club level, he has enjoyed amazing success with Barcelona, having won 3 Champions Leagues, 5 La Liga titles and many other accolades.

He’s a pacy right winger who is direct and full of goals with 98 in 318 for Barcelona in his long career at the club.

But, perhaps most importantly, he’s very much a team player.

At 28 years of age Manchester City would be virtually guaranteed to have a stronger team this season if they had Pedro on one flank and Raheem Sterling on the other.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how this one ends. If City do manage to sign Pedro they will not only be strengthening their own hand, but putting a huge spanner in the works of the transfer plans of their great rivals.
