Manchester City vs Barcelona Preview

Forget any other game in Europe this week. Manchester City vs Barcelona is the sort of mouthwatering tie that makes football so special – not least because this is such a hard one to predict.

History would suggest that Barcelona will have too much experience for Manchester City, the rich novices of The Champions League.

But Barcelona aren’t the team they were. They are arguably at the end of their golden era and can’t strengthen until next winter due to a FIFA ban on transfer.

Manchester City, on the other hand, have learnt some cruel yet priceless lessons in Europe and it’s surely just a matter of time before they have a really sensational season in the competition. Let’s face it, any team with Yaya Toure (banned against Barca), David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta, should have a good chance of winning the trophy.

Manchester City are a wonderful side on the up and it will only take one huge result against a team like Barcelona for everyone to realise that they are now serious contenders.

We are going stick our necks out and say that, despite some dodgy performances in the competition over the last couple of years, Manchester City are going to take this tie by the finest of margins, in what should be a fantastic match up.

Prediction: Manchester City 2 – 1 Barcelona
To Qualify: Manchester City
