Manchester Derby Preview – Predicted scoreline and scorers

We may get it horrifically wrong on a regular basis but don’t ever call us fence sitters.

The game of the weekend is nearly upon us and it’s a particularly difficult one to call this time around. Over the last three years only the more fanatical Manchester United fans could have called their team favourites in this clash as Manchester City have risen to pre-eminance in the league.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have spluttered and struggled along since the departure of Sir Alex in the spring of 2013.

But there has been something of a renaissance from Manchester United under Louis van Gaal at the same time as Manchester City seem to have run a little short on ideas. City went out of The Champions League in a humbling fashion to Barcelona and have lost 4 of their last ten games in the league to drop right out of the title race.

You would imagine that a defeat to Manchester United on Sunday will seal the fate of Manuel Pellegrini in the same way that it did when David Moyes Manchester United were beaten 3-0 at home in March 2014.

Conversely, the red half of Manchester is full of hope again under the inspired guidance of Louis van Gaal and the team is playing with fluency as well as getting results.

Anything could happen in this bonanza of a game but we are going for home advantage and a hard fought 3-1 win for Manchester United.
