Deal agreed and Manchester United understood to have completed another medical for wide man

It’s been a frantic period at Manchester United and the intent is clear for everyone to see. They want to get the lion’s share of business done as early as possible and have their new squad together for pre-season.

The club announced on its official website today that they have reached an agreement with Shaktar Donetsk for the transfer of Brazil international Fred.

The deal is thought to be in the region of 53m GBP and the statement read:

Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos.

A further announcement will be made in due course.

That was quickly followed by news that Manchester United have undertaken a medical for the talented young full back Diogo Dalot.

British media outlet, Sky Sports News, reported that:

Sky sources understand Diogo Dalot has completed his Manchester United medical.

We have spoken lots about these two young players over the last week. Dalot is a player who many hope will fill the shoes of Antonio Valencia on the right and perhaps surpass the achievements of the captain and utility man. Dalot is a specialist full back who can operate on either flank and will provide the sort of thrust that has often been missing from Manchester United’s play in recent years.

As for Fred, the huge fee speaks for itself. He could prove to be the missing link between defence and attack in a team that has seldom looked fluid since Jose Mourinho took the reins.

The Brazil international, 25, is a great passer of the ball and has the energy to carry the ball long distances with grace and skill.

These could be key signings for the club in positions that clearly needed reinforcements.
