Manchester United: Agent dismisses suggestion that Adnan Januzaj wants to leave club

He generated such eulogy when he first burst onto the scene that the optimists amongst us were envisaging the next Best or Ronaldo.

The flames of hope were further fuelled by Robin van Persie’s claim, late in 2013, that:

“He’s a great player and I’m a great fan of his,”

“Over the years I’ve seen so many young players and I can honestly say that of all the young players I’ve seen he is right up there in the top one or two.”

The Dutchman did nothing to manage expectations and the youngster went on to be one of the few positives from David Moyes’s ill-fated season at the helm of Manchester United.

In total Moyes gave Januzaj 35 games and we all assumed that, moving forward, his position in the eleven was all but guaranteed.

But Januzaj found the going far tougher in his second season with the senior squad, under new manager Louis van Gaal, and his game time was limited to 21 appearances, mainly as a substitute.

His impact during those minutes was minimal and it has lead to suggestions that the player could be loaned out, or even sold permanently. But his agent has moved to extinguish such doubts by stating that the player is very happy at Manchester Untied and intends to stay at the club next season.

In response to suggestions that the player could leave, Dirk de Vriese is quoted in The Daily Mail as saying:

This is total nonsense. Adnan is feeling good at Manchester United and they don’t want him to leave the club,’

‘He is considered still as their biggest talent since many years.

‘There was a lot of top teams asking to buy him and a lot of sub-top teams to loan him but he will stay at Manchester United to become a legend in the club.’

Manchester United are known for bringing youngsters though the ranks and the fans seem to respond particularly well to seeing an exciting colt breaking through. With this in mind, they will surely welcome the news of Adnan’s expected stay.

Here are some of his best moments for Manchester United.
