Manchester United agree terms with Paul Pogba

Without wishing to apply the kiss of death to this one, as Manchester United fans await news of a deal, it’s pretty clear at this point that Paul Pogba is likely to be a Red Devil come September.

The latest news reports suggest that Pogba himself has agreed terms on a move to Manchester United with The Daily Mail reporting on Wednesday afternoon:

Manchester United agree personal terms for Paul Pogba as Juventus star prepares to return to Old Trafford on five-year deal

The deal is likely to be for around £220,000 per week and his contract will expire when he is 28.

The report continues with the news that all that is left is to agree a fee with Juventus. While the Italians don’t want to lose their star man the accepted wisdom on this one is that they will reluctantly agree to any fee north of £100m up front.

Manchester United are said to have offered £85m up front in their initial bid with another £14-15m potentially being added with performance related bonuses.

But Juve are holding out for more and if Manchester United are prepared to pay £85m then another £15m shouldn’t provide too many problems.

There is a dearth of truly top, A-list and available talent around right now and Pogba falls into that category. At 23 he still has room for improvement but already tramples most of the opposition with his cavalier style that is also tinged with genuine technical excellence.

TFF are expecting this one to come to a head over the next few days and believe that Paul Pogba will be a Manchester United player by this time next week.
