Manchester United finally showed some teeth in a attack in scoring three goals against Sunderland at the weekend.
But, apart from those moments of decisiveness it was still a largely turgid affair played in the middle of the park.
Under Jose Mourinho Manchester United are solid again but certainly need more spark up top next season.
It would amaze most onlookers if the club didn’t add at least one forward to the ranks in the coming transfer window and two names have been thrown into the hat by The Manchester Evening News today.
They write:
Everton goalscorer Romelu Lukaku or Torino figurehead Andrea Belotti are also thought to be under consideration to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic should he leave after a season.
Lukaku is currently the top scorer in the Premier League with 21 and certainly knows where the onion bag is. But TFF has reservations about his work rate and also his technique when it comes to the very top level games.
The fact that Jose Mourinho let him go out on loan at Chelsea leaves us to question whether he would be top of the list of targets at Old Trafford.
As for Belotti, the 23-year-old Italian international has burst onto the scene after making his debut for his country last year with three goals in seven appearances at international level.
He’s also been a smash hit at club level since he made the move from Palermo to Torino in the summer of 2015, with 38 goals in just 67 games.
Manchester United fans – are either of these strikers good enough to lead the line for a successful Manchester United team next season?
