Barcelona eye Manchester United attacker

Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes is said to be attracting the interest of Barcelona, among others, as his rise to the top continues to look inevitable.

The Manchester Evening News reports:

Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes has reportedly alerted scouts from Barcelona after his sparkling performances for club and country this season.

Still only 16, Gomes is said to be the main man in the Manchester United academy right now and was playing for the Under 18s at 14 years of age.

The attacking midfielder was the third youngest player to score a hat-trick for the youth teams at Manchester United and has an eye for goal as well as amazingly quick feet and inordinate levels of maturity for one so young.

Time and again we have seen young player failing to reach their potential at Manchester United. Of the latest batch, James Wilson and Andreas Pereira seemed certain for huge futures at United and while that may still happen their fate is far from sealed after finding it difficult to make the transition to the first team despite brilliant youth careers.

Barcelona are said to be interested but let’s not forget who is now at the helm at Manchester United. It’s very difficult to imagine Jose Mourinho allowing a top talent to leave a club who will surely be once bitten, twice shy after what happened with Paul Pogba.
