French 2016 star given leave to talk to Manchester United?

Manchester United fans will be waiting with bated breath for any news about the potential signing of Paul Pogba this summer with speculation rife about a world record transfer.

But one rumour suggests that another French EURO 2016 star, Blaise Matuidi, has been given permission too leave the French camp to hold talks with Manchester United about a summer transfer.

Goal.com reports (via BBC):

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi, 29, has been given permission to leave France’s Euro 2016 base to travel to England to conduct talks with Manchester United over a summer move to Old Trafford. (Goal – in French)

The 29-year-old anchor man has been a solid performer for club and country through his career. There has been almost yearly speculation that he will move to England although Manchester United are not usually the rumoured suitors.

Matuidi has played 49 times for France and scored on 8 occasions.

He’s been at PSG since 2011 and been a regular starter under Laurent Blanc playing around 45 games per season. In total he has turned out 236 times for the French side and scored 26 goals.

Although this particular move may come as something of a surprise to Manchester United fans it is widely expected that Jose Mourinho will make his mark on the United midfield this summer as he adds industry, steel and mobility to an engine room which some believe lacks character.

Let’s see Mautuidi in action.
