Situation ‘now different’ says club as Manchester United close in on another major deal

Manchester United look as if they have made a breakthrough with the deal to bring one of their major targets to Old Trafford this summer as Borussia Dortmund appear to be relenting on a deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Daily Mail writes:

Manchester United close in on Henrikh Mkhitaryan

and quotes the Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke as saying:

‘The situation is now different,’

‘Manchester have made a much improved offer. In situations like this there are always a lot of different things to consider and in the end at one point we have to make a decision.

The 27-year-old appears desperate for a move to Manchester United with agent Mino Raiola making the desires of the player very clear last week.

The Armenian international, who can play on either wing or at number 10, has been a revelation in Germany since signing for Dortmund in 2013 with 40 goals in 136 games for the club that he joined from Shaktar Donetsk for around £23.6m.

TFF thinks that he will be similarly successful in England with his pace, guile and solidity. He is much more than just a goal scorer and has as many assists as goals for Dortmund.

Quite where he will line up in the new look Manchester United is the subject of some debate. What is for sure is that you can expect a player of this quality to be starting every game of import for United in the coming season.

We at TFF would be astonished if this deal didn’t now go through.

Manchester United are also said to be keen on a huge move for Paul Pogba this summer and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is widely expected to join the club in the next week.

Eric Bailly is currently Manchester United’s only major signing of the summer transfer window after a £30m move from La Liga side Villarreal.

Here are some of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s best moments.
