Manchester United to sell a star player – report

Manchester United are reportedly willing to sell Juan Mata to Everton.

From the moment Jose Mourinho got the Manchester United job there was speculation that the player would be sold for a second time under the Portuguese.

It was Mourinho who sold the player to Manchester United in 2014 for a United transfer record of £37.1 million.

And it appears he is gearing up to do the same thing again as Everton will become the recipients of the Spaniard’s talent this time around.

The well-respected Liverpool Echo reports:

Juan Mata is the latest player linked with a move to Goodison Park, with reports from several outlets – including Talksport – suggesting a move for the Manchester United midfielder may be imminent.

Mata has been a bit hit and miss at Manchester United. He’s a very popular figure amongst the fans because of his cordial personality but he hasn’t really taken big games by the scruff of the neck as he was signed to do.

In his defence he has rarely been played in his preferred number 10 role behind the main striker and has regularly been shipped out to the right wing where his lack of pace and power has been exposed.

Mata has scored 26 goals in 104 games for Manchester United in his two and a half years at the club. He was recently ommitted from Spain’s unsuccessful EURO 2016 squad.

The report states that Manchester United are ready to give Zlatan the number 8 shirt of Mata.

Here are some of his better moments for Manchester United. Everton fans: a good move?
