Manchester United: Deal Concluded in 48 Hours?

Latest reports suggest that Manchester United are close to doing a deal with French side Lyon for the services of young Dutch winger Memphis Depay.

Reports over the last few weeks have increasingly mooted the move but so far Manchester United’s valuation of the player has not been met.

However British media outlet, The Mirror, now states that the French side have got closer to were United want to be in terms of a fee.

They say:

Manchester United outcast Memphis Depay could complete Lyon move in the next 48 hours

The French side have improved their £13million bid for the Dutch winger and United are ready to let him go

Manchester United signed the young star two years ago for £25m and this bid still seems low considering the youth and profile of the player. But such has been his fall from grace during his time at Old Trafford that recouping even half of the money may seem like good economics to Manchester United right now.

This is a player who can do anything on the field of play but he just hasn’t been able to do it consistently enough in his time at Manchester United. But if anyone could go on and have an amazing career after failing at Old Trafford it is this guy.

He’s got so much power, pace and technique to go with it. He just seems to have lost confidence at Manchester United and, if anything, he seems to be trying too hard to make things happen on the field instead of relaxing into the games.

Memphis has made just eight appearances for Manchester United this season and it’s hard to think of any positive impressions that he’s made on those games.

Sadly for him, a move away from Manchester United now seems inevitable.
