Manchester United: Deal Done In Principal for Defender – report

Many to most Manchester United fans will be delighted to hear the news that Timothy Fosu-Mensah has agreed a new long term deal, in principal, at the club.

The Daily Mail reveals:

Manchester United’s teenage defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah has agreed in principle a new long-term deal at Old Trafford.

The 18 year-old Netherlands Under 19 international put in some highly promising performances for Manchester United in one of the few brights spots of last season under Louis van Gaal. He looks much older than 18 with an already monstrous physique.

And, despite an erratic performance in The Fa Cup Semi Final against Everton, he made ten largely excellent appearances for Manchester United in his breakthrough campaign.

But there were rumours that the player might be surplus to requirements at the club so news of a deal will reassure many.

There is a still a chance that the youngster could go out on loan this season as Manchester United have lots of options in defence.

But the popular choice of the fans would be for him to stay and fight for a place in an increasingly youthful looking defence with Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly in the side from the start of pre-season.

Fosu-Mensah joined Manchester United in 2014 and played for the youth teams as a left back, centre back and central midfielder.

He made his debut for the seniors against Arsenal at Old Trafford on 28th February 2016 as a 55th minute substitute.

Let’s see some of his early moments for the club. Manchester United fans: will he get game time this season or would a loan move be the best choice?
