Manchester United have made enquiries about goalscoring midfielder with 23 goals in 51 games

Manchester United new manager Jose Mourinho is wasting no time in the transfer market this summer and the latest name the be used in relation to the club is that of Henrik Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian international moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2013 and has been a big success with 40 goals in 136 games for the club.

And his form continues to interest English clubs, according to The Daily Mail, which reports:

Manchester United have enquired about Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan

At 27 the Armenian, with 19 goals in 59 caps for his country, looks like the finished article.

He’s quick, two-footed and loves to attack at every opportunity. With Juventus and Arsenal both reportedly in the hunt for the player he may well opt for Champions League football next season.

But we shouldn’t underestimate the allure of Jose Mourinho who seems to have lifted Manchester United with his mere presence and looks to be building another great United side.

United need some more dynamism in their midfield and more pace on their wings. Henrik Mkhitaryan can play as an attacking midfield or a winger. If he were to sign he may be deployed at number 10 next season if Wayne Rooney drops deeper.

Alternatively, and possibly more likely, he would be asked to play on the right of a 3 behind the main striker – possibly Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The playmaker is reportedly valued at around £25m.
