Manchester United have perhaps decided that Memphis Depay is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and there has been luke warm interest in his services over the last months.
The latest team to show an interest is Lyon, according to sports media outlet, ESPN:
Lyon only club who want Man United’s Memphis Depay permanently – sources
Memphis has shown moments of absolute brilliance in his time at Manchester United. Many had hoped that his talents could be nurtured into a more consistent product.
And TFF felt that Jose Mourinho could be the perfect man to bring the best out of the youngster on a regular basis.
Alas, it just hasn’t happened for the Dutchman and he looks ever more likely to leave Manchester United – if not in this window then in the summer.
He’s only played fleetingly for Manchester United this season and although the official stats indicate that he has played seven times for his club it’s hard to remember him last wearing the shirt – such has been his anonymity at the club over the last year.
And although there is undoubted talent there, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho seems to prefer the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard in the wide areas.
Manchester United sold Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton this week and Memphis may still go in the same direction. But this reported interest from Lyon could speed up the process.
Manchester United fans: any point in holding on to him?
