Deal Inevitable? Agent says gifted midfielder wants to join Manchester United ‘by any means’

This one could to and fro for a while yet but it now appears that Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan is desperate to join Manchester United this summer.

TFF feels sorry for Borussia Dortmund – an excellent club with a scouting system which is clearly the envy of world football. But, despite a huge stadium and Champions League football virtually every season, they struggle to hold on to their top players.

This summer Mats Hummels has joined fierce rivals Bayern Munich, who have also snatched Robert Lewandowski and Mario Goetze in recent seasons. Another leading light, Ilkay Gundogan, has moved to Manchester City and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could yet follow suit.

And with player power at an all-time high Borussia Dortmund may eventually have to concede defeat in their attempts to keep the Armenian international out of Manchester United’s grasp.

His agent, Mino Raiola, is quoted in The Daily Mail as saying:

‘Watzke (Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke) walks 180 degrees into one direction and I 180 degrees into the other. But even though it does not look like it right now, I still hope for a sensible solution.

He went on to state that the player will do whatever necessary to make the move happen – a veiled threat TFF wonders?

‘Such an offer to join Manchester United might only come once in a lifetime for a player and nobody can guarantee us that the door will still be open for Micki next season. Manchester are Micki’s dream club, he wants to join them by any means.’

There is little doubt that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a top player who scores goals and makes things happen.

But the reason why we think he is so suited to England and Manchester United is that he is tougher and better built than many a European playmaker.

We think that he would an absolute sensation at Manchester United and we retain our belief that, however unfair, he will be a Red Devil come September.
