Bid Made: Mourinho’s £30m Plan B – talks held in the last week – report

Maracaná, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

Manchester United are lining up Wolfsburg forward Julian Draxler as a plan B if they don’t complete a move for their top target, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports.

The Star on Sunday writes:

Manchester United make bid for Euro 2016 star

MANCHESTER UNITED have made a £30million move for Germany midfielder Julian Draxler

And the Daily Star Sunday can reveal that talks on Draxler were held in the last week.

We would have to say that this one should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Draxler is a very promising player who, at 22, would be the preferred choice of some over a move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

But we fully expect a deal to be done for the Armenian over the next week or so as his club, Borussia Dortmund, look closer than at any other stage to relenting on their original stance that the player would see out the final year of his contract at The Bundesliga outfit.

So is there any chance of both being signed this summer by Manchester United?

They can both play on the wing but neither is a conventional wide man and both would tend towards the centre of the park.

They are both intelligent players who could surely work together. But they wouldn’t necessarily form perfect pieces of the jigsaw in tandem.

So, while it’s not the first time that Julian Drawler’s name has been mentioned in relation to Manchester United this summer, TFF thinks that the move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan is far more likely at this stage.
