Precocious wide man on Manchester United’s radar – considering move this month

Manchester United have been quiet in the transfer market and with a deal for Swedish centre back Victor Lindelof of Benfica ostensibly going cold, the chances of major winter arrivals seem slim.

But they are keen on a young left-back according to latest reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror reports:

Manchester United eye move for Celtic’s £10million-rated teenager Kieran Tierney

The 19-year-old left-back is also being monitored by Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal

The report states that Manchester United are considering a move for the highly regarded teenager in this window but may wait until the summer to make their move.

This may set alarm bells ringing for Luke Shaw and his fans. The Manchester United star, who was signed for a whopping £30m, has hardly figured for Manchester United in the last few months despite returning to fitness after a leg injury.

He clearly doesn’t yet have the full trust of Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and, as with fellow youngster Anthony Martial, could be slowly integrated into the team over the coming months.

Tierney’s breakthrough campaign at club level came last season where he played 33 times for Celtic in all competitions and scored one goal. He’s already played 17 times for the club this season and now has the look of a first team regular. This form has also seen him catapulted into the Scotland international set up for them he has played twice since his debut in 2016.

Manchester United are said to have scouted the player who appears to possess many of the attributes required to be a Manchester United full back. He’s quick, adventurous and just as comfortable going forward as he is doing the defensive work.
