Manchester United linked with €40 million-rated Speed Demon

Manchester United will surely prioritise the addition of some speedy forwards this summer. They have built a solid foundation under Jose Mourinho but they really need to add some creativity and fantasy to that front line if they’re going to get further in the league and in Europe. They need more goals and more goal threat. Perhaps most of all they need a player who can get behind opposition defences more quickly.

To that end there have been more rumours of big money signings in the European press of late as the transfer window gets closer.

Sky Sports passes this one from German media outlet BILD:

Juventus, Manchester City, Manchester United and PSG are all interested in making a move for Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa. It is believed that the Brazilian would be available for around €40m (£34.9m). (Bild)

Bayern München star Douglas Costa has been linked to the Premier League many times in the past and although he has had an excellent season in Germany he is once more being linked with a move to Manchester United amongst other clubs.

The 26-year-old Brazil international who has 18 caps and three goals for his country since his debut in 2014 has had an excellent couple of campaigns in Germany scoring 14 goals in 77 appearances.

Perhaps he feels that England suits his game and he would certainly be the sort of creative addition that Manchester United need up front. He’s got genuine pace, trickery and flare but also delivers with his final ball and football brain.

Manchester United fans: is Costa good enough to get into the first team and make a real difference in the big games or would he just be a useful squad player?
