Manchester United linked with pacy 22-year-old signing before September

Since Manchester completed the capture of Paul Pogba we have been of the opinion that only one area of the team could still use improvement in the medium term.

Because, for all the promise of Timothy Fosu-Mensah he hasn’t actually delivered yet.

Meanwhile Antonio Valencia is enjoying a renaissance under Jose Mourinho and looks set to keep his place in the team this season. But at 31 he won’t be able to motor up and down that right flank for too much longer.

And you would imagine that, at some stage, Jose Mourinho would like to have similar pace and dynamism on the right as he does with the bewitching talents of Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw on the left.

Which makes the latest rumours somewhat interesting.

The Telegraph picks up on this one with:

Fabinho closer to United move?

According to France Football, Monaco right back Fabinho is poised for a move to Old Trafford.

The French publication suggests, somewhat bizarrely perhaps, that Monaco’s recent qualification for The Champions League proper has triggered a clause for Manchester United to snare Fabinho.

TFF feels that these details could be a bit spurious.

But what we do know is that this is exactly the sort of player who Manchester United should be targeting.

Manchester United boss Mourinho loves his full backs to get forward and has worked with Fabinho at Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old Brazilian, who stands at 6ft 2in, has played 4 times for Brazil since his debut last year and looks to have a big future at international level.

He’s played 133 times for Monaco over the last 3 seasons and offers pace and penetration down the flank, as well as solid defending.

TFF believes that he would be a marvellous addition for Manchester United and we wouldn’t be agog if Jose brought him in this summer.
