Tempted by Old Trafford: Spanish media link Manchester United with €80m-rated Champions League Winner

While Manchester United fans are enthusiastically awaiting news on a deal to bring Paul Pogba back to the club this summer, areas of the Spanish media are reporting that the club is interested in signing James Rodriguez of Real Madrid.

James Rodriguez tempted by Premier League switch

The 25-year-old played less games (32) and scored less goals (8) last term for Real Madrid than in his previous two seasons at the club and rumours have been rife that the creator could be used to generate income for another signing for Los Blancos this summer.

Rodriguez has scored 16 golas in 48 games for his country and would expect to occupy the number ten or right wing berth for Manchester United and is said to be tempted by a switch to The Premier League.

TFF believes that while Rodriguez would benefit most teams in the world, he may not be the perfect fit for Manchester United at this stage. Unless Wayne Rooney plays in midfield this term then the first-choice front four looks likely to consist of Rooney, Martial, Zlatan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

But Jose Mourinho has already stated that he sees Rooney playing in attack for the club this term.

So while the signing would completely shock, a move for a central midfielder is perhaps more likely at this stage of the summer.

Here are some of Rodriguez’ highlights. Manchester United supporters: A necessary addition or do you think that Jose is likely to invest in other positions?
