Based on the sudden rise to prominence of a shock of Manchester United youngsters, one would assume that the idea of buying seasoned stars may seem less appealing to the fans and board right now.
It certainly feels as if we are seeing the next very good, or great Manchester United vintage coming together and their progress could be stunted if they are benched again. We at TFF think that, up top, Memphis, Rashford and Martial have all the ingredients to develop into a top quality attacking triumvirate. And defenders such as Varela, Fosu-Mensah and Shaw already have the pace, mobility and the strength required for top-tier football.
Yet the papers are once more awash with stories of Manchester United interest in 4 older players.

But how excited would Manchester United fans currently be about the prospect of their very own Marcus Rashford being sidelined by the potentially incoming Gonzalo Higuain? We think that most would be happy to give the kids space to develop.
But the allure of Ronaldo is of course obvious and, even at 31, he’s easily the pick of the bunch. We are sure that Manchester United could find a way to squeeze him into the side but is he worth all that money at his age?
