London club braced for formal midfielder bid from Manchester United

Manchester United are keen to push forward with a move to sign the prodigiously talented West Ham midfielder Reece Oxford, according to reports.

The Daily Mail states:

West Ham are bracing themselves for a formal offer from Manchester United for Reece Oxford.

And the Hammers believe a bid for the defender will arrive sooner rather than later, even as early as this week.

The teenage sensation has made 12 appearances for West Ham this season having started like a train against Arsenal in the campaign opener. Some were expecting him to play even more games but his composure and maturity for one so young speaks of a player who is surely destined for greater things.

Jose Mourinho will be keen to make his mark at Old Trafford, possibly before EURO 2016, and it will be fascinating to see who he brings in in order to shape his new Manchester United squad.

More experienced players like Zlatan have been rumoured to be of interest to the new Manchester United boss but a move for Oxford would suggest that Mourinho is planning to stick around for the long haul. He has never previously stayed at any club for more than a few years.

Manchester United certainly need new life in their midfield and Oxford would be a very exciting if coltish addition to the squad.
